There are currently 2 permanent whole-time vacancies available. Initial assignments to Biochemistry and Haematology Dept., Mayo University Hospital with cross cover required in other laboratories. The successful candidates may be required to work in any service area within the vicinity as the need arises.

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Mayo University Hospital, from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.

The Pathology Laboratory offers a comprehensive range of clinical diagnostic services for hospitals, General Practitioners and Community Care in the HSE Western area. It provides analysis of patient specimens for inpatient, outpatient, community and GP patients. It also refers specimens to some referral laboratories for specialised testing. The service has been awarded ISO15189:2012 accreditation operating a Quality Management System that conforms to this standard. Refer to the Pathology User’s Handbook at www.saolta.ie. The Consultant Microbiologists and Pathologists provides appropriate clinical interpretation of results and advice on patient diagnosis, treatment and management.
