KIPP Nashville is part of the acclaimed KIPP Network, which educates 100,000+ students nationwide and supports students from Kindergarten through college, career and beyond. KIPP Nashville currently operates 3 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, and 1 high school and we are excited to open our doors to a 2nd high school in 2023. Our student community consists of over 3,000 students in North, East and South Nashville. 94% of our students identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and 26% are identified as diverse learners. Position Overview:
The Behavior Support Specialist will lead support for students with special needs to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. The Behavior Support Specialist will provide critical guidance to Lead Teachers to ensure that all staff are complying with and meeting the needs of students with special needs.

Job Description

Responsibilities of the Behavior Support Specialist will include, but are not limited to:

Proactive Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Dean of Students to establish a positive, structured, and achievement-oriented school culture.
• Assist in the implementation of positive school investment systems.
• Work closely with the student support team to design behavior intervention plans.
• Support teachers in building relationships with students and parents.
• Model core values at all times.
• Lead RTI-B across the school which includes attending RTI-B meetings, executing fidelity checks and documenting RTI-B implementation
• Leads walkthroughs regularly to provide feedback and coaching.
• Coaches and models effective use of Dean’s List and the behavior system.
• Provide additional coaching and support to teachers as needed.
• Facilitates effective teacher development as needed.
• Coaches related arts teachers.

Reactive Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the implementation of specific behavioral intervention plans.
• Assist teachers, students, and parents in the creation and implementation of support plans for struggling students.
• Reinforce the effective use of the school-wide behavior plan, including the school’s merit and demerit system.
• Monitor behavioral pull-outs and resets during the school day.
• Support the implementation and oversight of after school detentions.
• Monitoring the hallways.
• Respond to any issues on the bus, as delegated.

Qualifications

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Experience teaching or leading children
• Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred

Additional Information

Compensation

Our comprehensive compensation package includes life insurance and long-term disability coverage provided by KIPP Nashville, voluntary medical and dental plans, in addition to retirement benefits and an annual salary increase. To establish equitable salary practices, the compensation package is derived from the regional KIPP Nashville Public Schools pay scale. This position is exempt and will follow a 10-month schedule.
