After School Teacher/Helper

Science Matters in America provides STEM/Science enrichment programs in local elementary schools, in addition to classroom demonstrations, and assemblies.

We are hiring Part-time After School Teachers (4-10 hours per week)

We are hiring specifically for...

• East Valley- including Chandler, Gilbert, and Queen Creek
• North Valley- including Paradise Valley and Scottsdale

Responsibilities of an After School Teacher

• Teach K-5th grade students in the after school enrichment program at local elementary schools.
• Must be available at least 2 days a week-required (4+ days a week preferred)
• Hours: Monday-Friday, for up to 2 hours, between 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
• Teach meaningful STEM science through Teacher Demos, Games and Hands-on Experiments
• Create a take-home project most weeks with students

Qualifications to be an After School Teacher

• Love of learning and working with students
• Enthusiastic about teaching STEM science (we train)
• Experience working with students (can be volunteer work)
• Effective classroom management skills
• Energetic, punctual, and very dependable
• Must have reliable transportation
• Supplies, curriculum, and paid training provided
• Teaching experience- preferred
• CPR and First Aid certification -preferred
• AZ Fingerprint card- REQUIRED

Benefits of being an After School Teacher

• Pay starts at $21 per hour for 2-hour club. Bonus for high-volume teachers.
• Helpers paid at $12.80 per hour for 90-minute club.
• Room for growth - pay increases available after probationary period.
