ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated ESRI ArcGIS software to produce, display, and analyze spatial data;
  • Create, organize, manipulate, and generate GIS maps and data for reporting, analysis, presentations, and data visualization purposes;
  • Write and implement scripts to automate and customize workflows for a variety of tasks, including GIS, Data Management, and statistical analysis;
  • Maintain and develop project-specific environmental, relational databases using desktop (MS Access) and enterprise (MS SQL Server, EQuIS) database software to compile, verify, analyze, and report large and diverse datasets;
  • Interact with internal and external clients to support geospatial data management and data visualization for stormwater, environmental engineering, and sustainable groundwater management projects.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in water resources, environmental science, geography, computer science, engineering, or geology. (required)
  • Advanced degree in water resources, environmental science, geography, computer science, engineering, or related field. (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior internship experience in related field. (preferred)
  • Exceptional attention to detail in quantitative work products, written communication, spelling, and grammar. (required)
  • Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS software (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro), including geodatabase structures and geoprocessing concepts. (required)
  • Proficiency in cartographic techniques and best practices. (preferred)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Access, including the ability to write complex formulas and visualize data effectively. (required)
  • Working knowledge of database structure, query design, and maintenance. (required)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, SQL, or R. (preferred)
  • Experience with the front-end processes of collecting field data with various GPS units and the process of downloading and compiling the data. (preferred)
  • Understanding and use of Graphic Design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). (preferred)
  • Direct experience managing environmental, geologic, and geotechnical data collection. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of laboratory analytical data verification and validation processes. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Wage: $23.89/hourly or $64,480/salary / Maximum Wage: $31.00/hourly or $77,505/salary (Santa Barbara)
