Duties
As a Accountant (Analysis, Reporting and Compliance), you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to:
- Executes, analysis, validations, and reconciliations of the accounting transactions and balances, posting models, and data to ensure accuracy and integrity of the budgetary and accounting information prior to the development of financial reports.
- Solves problems in financial data and reporting by applying accounting principles, theories, concepts, and practices in new or novel ways to solve these problems where no clear precedents exist..
- Servers a subject matter expert for all accounting, auditing and financial reporting topics related to Treasury, FASAB, OMB, GAO, and USAGM policies, regulations, and guidance.
- Drafts written reports and recommendations for improvements, and presents them to team lead, management, and peers.
- Leads a variety of teams, projects, and tasks; reviews progress reports and work products; establishes over all objectives; and assists in completing annual goals for the office. The position will work with the Auditors and support the financial statement audit.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- Performing or providing guidance on the full cycle of accounting with policies and regulations.
- Reviewing various other financial reports on a recurring basis, including identification and remediation of inaccuracies and inconsistencies.
- Modifying and adapting conventional accounting techniques to solve a variety of financial and accounting problems.
Education
This position has a positive education requirement, which must be met by A, B, or C below:
A. A degree in accounting;
B. A degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR
C. A combination of education and experience, including at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided a professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
- Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
- A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
- Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that
- (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining;
- (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; AND
- (c) except for literal non-conformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
