What you will be doing

The Store Reporting Department, located at the National Accounting Service Center in Phoenix, AZ, has an opening for an Accountant I.

The primary function of this role will be to assist the team with sales reporting and other store reporting/accounting activities.

Main responsibilities

  • Communicate with division personnel, vendors, and departmental team members.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with processing AP in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Perform journal entries for reclasses.

  • Take the lead on projects requiring research, organization, communication, and problem resolution.
  • Coordinating and ensuring all tasks are completed on time.
  • Providing guidance to internal/external customers.
  • Accountable for maintaining department applications and systems functionality requiring a high level of decision making and technical abilities.
  • Train and assist associates and clerks in specific accounting tasks and the use of systems.
  • Support team members on all accounting issues.
  • Look for areas of opportunity to create enhancements and efficiencies within existing systems and processes.
  • Prepare periodic financial statements/reports for management.
  • Analyze financial data using Excel, Access, and other query tools.
  • Handle conflict and issues while maintaining the self-esteem of others.
  • Participate and support all departmental functions while continuing to motivate others.

We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree preferable in Accounting or Finance.
  • Two or more years accounting experience in a large organization with mainframe-based accounting systems.
  • Experience working in Oracle or other major ERP accounting software.
