Crane Nuclear is seeking to hire an Accounting Clerk at our Bolingbrook Location.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for performing a range of routine accounting activities such as process accounts payable and receivable transactions, account reconciliations, prepare and enter journal entries, sales and use tax filings, collections, and department filing. Additionally, this role will be responsible for reviewing G/L account coding for AP processing and will need to research and resolve Purchase Order/Invoice issues and exceptions.
This position requires the incumbent to work in a team environment, make decisions within the scope of authority, organize work, meet firm deadlines, communicate effectively and provide technical assistance to other teams as needed.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in month end reporting. Primary month end responsibilities include but are not limited to processing the following: Prepare standard journal entries, JE data entry, and AP accruals.
Process accounts payables and receivables.
Update Weekly Sales and Orders report.
Perform filing and general administrative tasks.
Preparation of the Sales and Use Returns.
Accountable for outstanding customer service to all staff, customers, and vendors.
Initiate action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.
Update and maintain AP/AR Visual Management on daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Problem solve as necessary, determining root causes and implementing countermeasure improvement actions.
Participate in Crane Business System activities to drive or support continuous improvement as needed.
Act as back-up for the Travel & Entertainment card administrator.
General accounts receivable and accounts payable functions:
Prepare and submit customer invoices.
Monitor customer accounts for non-payment and delayed payment.
Prepare and coordinate deposit activities.
Maintain customer files.
Validate and process vendor invoices.
Charge expenses to the appropriate locations and G/L accounts by analyzing invoices.
Analyze invoice discrepancies and unpaid invoices.
Reconcile vendor statements to open invoices.
Communicate with vendors regarding open balances.
Maintain vendor files.
Reconcile credit card statements and process transactions to record expenses.
Process necessary transactions to clear reconciling items for all account reconciliations for AP and AR transactions.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE :
Post-secondary courses in Accounting or related discipline, or equivalent experience preferred. High School diploma or its equivalent required.
1-3 years of AP/AR Accounting experience is preferred.
Literacy and proficiency working with MS Office products (Word, Excel) is required.
- Sale/Use Tax experience preferred.

Experience with QAD is a plus.
Detail oriented with excellent data entry, organizational and time management skills.
Ability to multi-task, work within a fast paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
Must be a self-starter who can work independently.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
High integrity, team player with customer service focus and flexibility.
