We are looking for a talented accounting professional who loves to work with the day to day transactions, payroll, and wants the responsibility of “owning” the accounting function of the business through financials.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the day to day accounting operations of the Firm, from transaction entry to financial statement preparation. This is a hands-on position, highly transactional, but with big picture understanding.

The Accounting Manager is a valued member of the Operations team, and works closely with firm leadership to achieve firm objectives. Trustworthiness, confidentiality, and accounting competence are essential to the success of the person in this position. Professional services experience required, law firm experience a plus.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Managing the cash accounts and reconciling the accounts daily;
• Managing and reconciling the trust (IOLTA) accounts intimately;
• A/P transaction entry, check preparation;
• Deposits;
• Payroll entry and processing, including vendor payments for benefits related to payroll;
• Ad hoc accounting-related requests; and
• Month-end, year-end closes.

Position requirements:

• B.S. in Accounting or Finance or certification (CMA, CPA) highly preferred;
• 5 years’ experience in hands-on accounting (transactional work) across the business (not just one area, i.e. AP or AR);
• 2 years’ experience supervising or managing processes and/or people;
• Big-picture understanding of accounting and finance;
• Strong affinity for / love of technology;
• Ability to work with a variety of personalities and urgency levels;
• Experience in professional services accounting preferred, law firm accounting desired; and
• Positive, professional demeanor with internal and external clients, understanding of confidentiality both internally and externally.
