Damien Center, Damien Cares and Damien Pharmacy provide client-centered social services focused on care coordination, clinical and pharmacy services, mental health, housing, and nutrition to the Indianapolis community.

Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the accounts payables and ensuring timely, efficient, and accurate processing while adhering to departmental and organizational procedures. The position will be responsible for accomplishing tasks related to month-end close, month-end reporting and analysis. This Accounting Manager will provide support to the annual budgeting process. The Accounting Manager will demonstrate a strong attention to detail with the ability to work with management, staff, vendors, and clients to accomplish the strategic goals of the Finance and Damien Center teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of Accounts Payables function and collaboration with Accounts Receivable to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • In conjunction with the external accountant, prepares and/or reviews journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assists with annual budget preparation.
  • Prepares and performs monthly budget-to-actual analysis, conducts reviews with managers, and communicates results of reviews and analysis to finance leadership.
  • Assists in reporting of Program Income, as it relates to funding sources.
  • Maintains fixed assets and depreciation schedule, including tagging of assets and tracking the physical location, recording of disposed/damaged/displaced items.
  • Maintains prepaid expenses and amortization schedules.
  • Reviews expenses with a focus on ensuring they are properly allocated per the annual budget.
  • Analyzes workflow processes and assists with researching software and processes that enhance and improve departmental efficiencies.
  • Researches and resolves financial discrepancies.
  • Maintains general ledger, including account analysis.
  • Assists with preparation for monitoring visits, annual audit and tax returns.
  • Assists with expense and revenue analysis.
  • Assists with reviewing all financial policies and procedures and ensuring compliance.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.
  • Other financial and/or departmental administrative duties as requested.

Education and/or Experience

Associates or bachelor's degree required. Three to five years of accounting experience required, with five or more years preferred. Managerial experience preferred. Experience in nonprofit and/or medical setting preferred but not required. Superior organizational skills with attention to detail required.

Work experience may substitute for education requirements on a case-by-case basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Possess superior organizational and administrative skills.Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Ability to work independently and achieve high standards of productivity, achieving deadlines and with superior product results. Strong calendaring, organizational, and document management skills required. Proactive approach to solving problems and communicating to leadership. Knowledge of office management systems, procedures, and office equipment required. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
