JBS began in 1953 as a small, family-owned company in Brazil. We have continued to steadily grow and are now the largest animal protein processor in the world. In the 1960's, it was acquired by Murco and in 1998 by Packerland. In 2000, Packerland was acquired by Smithfield. In 2010, the facility joined the JBS USA family.

Plainwell is the only JBS plant with Modified Atmospheric Packaging (MAP), a packaging process that changes oxygen levels to extend shelf-life. The MAP process is a part of the Plainwell ground beef operation. Plainwell is also one of the few plants that produces ground beef patties. Over one million lbs (450,000 kg) of beef are produced each day. The Plainwell facility produces biogas in an anaerobic lagoon and uses it in place of natural gas to heat a portion of the water used in the plant. The facility was recognized by the American Meat Institute as a Tier 3 facility for its accomplishments with ISO 14001. Plainwell recently built a $31 million distribution center (85,000 ft²) with a 55,000 box capacity.

ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR I

Job responsibilities:

• Support Assistant Controller with all phases of accounting functions, including daily P&L reports for Fabrication, Value Added, and Ground Beef
• Help prepare period end accruals with appropriate documentation with a cattle accounting focus
• Help manage and reconcile outstanding payables
• Help assure proper GL and Cost Center coding of expenses
• Validate weekly sales figures reconcile to systems
• Generate daily production and expense reports for departments
• Work with the team to delegate tasks and streamline repetitive tasks
• Maintain, create and review reports in excel
• Assist with preparation for SOX controls and reconciliations for Blackline
• Create opportunities to decrease time in tasks through automation
• Be a backup on key tasks to help cover other team member’s vacations
• Other duties as assigned

Hours will be Monday - Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM or as required

Systems Used: SAP, Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, ECS, Shop Floor, CPS, Order Management (AR), Blackline (Reconciliations), and 10-key calculator.

• 3+ years or relevant business experience
• Solid Microsoft Office application abilities with a good understanding and ability to quickly learn information systems
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to lead and complete projects
• Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
• Leadership skills
• Strong Attention to detail

Preferred:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• Supervisory experience
• General Accounting
• Cost Accounting
• Experience with SAP
