Position Description

Position Title: Accounts Clerk

Department: Accounting

Reports To: Principal, Accounting

SUMMARY:

Maintains accurate and systematic financial records for the school district. Invoices

accounts receivable, processes accounts payable and reconciles bank accounts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  • School banking and recording of cash receipts on computer.
  • Reviews, processes and pays all authorized invoices.
  • Ensures timely entry of data to automated system.
  • Collects money from students for various trips and other school
related items.
  • Orders school supplies.
  • Maintains vendor file.
  • Maintains files of paid and unpaid invoices and purchase orders.
  • Prepare, verify and distribute checks.
  • Responds to expenditure questions from District Office.
  • Bank transfers transactions.
  • Reconciles district bank accounts.
  • Assists in budget preparation.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/ or EXPERIENCE:

High School Graduate or equivalent and three years experience in office bookkeeping.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance

instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before administrators and staff.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,

proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply

concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in

written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete

variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Personal Computer and spreadsheet experience. Ability to communicate clearly and

concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all

district requirements and Board of Education policies.
