SUMMARYGreat Lakes Ace is a chain of 61 neighborhood hardware stores operating in the Midwest and is the second largest

We are seeking a Accounts Payable Clerk who is passionate about retail. This role is based out of our Support
Center (Corporate Office) located in Farmington Hills, MI. Responsible to ensure accuracy of accounts payables
and timely processing for payment according to pre-arranged vendor agreement terms and ensuring process and
procedure controls are applied.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Compares merchandise invoices against purchase orders and shipping and receiving documents to verify receipt of
items ordered using Epicor / Eagle.
Ensures invoices are accurate according to pre-arranged agreements, approved by appropriate parties, resolution /
reconciliation of charges out of the norm, and prepared for processing for payment.
Interacts with merchandise buyers regarding errors in partial or duplicate shipments, prices, and substitutions
ensuring cost corrections are not processed until appropriate approval is obtained.
Enter invoices into Epicor / Eagle for payment and electronic account posting.
Analyze vendor statements and audit accounts as needed to ensure integrity and controls in process.
Complete month end procedures according to set deadlines, which will include utility accruals, account
reconciliations, and all monthly invoices are entered and processed.
Cross trained in other accounting departments.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Be responsive to requests from auditors during annual accounting audits. Other duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS
Communicates with merchandise department, stores, distribution center, accounts receivable department, and
vendors frequently.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Previous Accounts Payable experience required. Associates or higher degree in accounting or equivalent work
experience desired. For internal applications store experience will be considered.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as purchase orders, invoices, statements, and procedures. Ability to
write routine, effective correspondence to vendors, merchandising group, stores, and auditors, etc.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages using electronic tools
available. Ability to recognize discrepancies.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Advanced computer skills necessary, must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. Be able to create
Excel spreadsheets. Requires significant attention to detail and organizational skills, along with the ability to
problem solve, multi task, have excellent communication skills and view their routine tasks analytically.
