Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist who will perform the daily processing of Accounts Payable transactions. This role will review and prepare both paper and electronic vendor invoices for data entry and payment. In addition to, compiling and preparing vendor payment files for uploading and vendor checks for mailing.

Position Responsibilities

• File electronic/paper remittance advices with backup
• Review and reconcile all vendor statements
• Analyze and reconcile employee expense vouchers and process for payment
• Reconcile vendor and purchasing issues
• Organize and maintain vendor/employee files
• Process and review data entry reports for accuracy
• Compile, review, and process currency conversions for reimbursements
• Compile, review, and process mileage for travel back-up
• Authorize and provide travel vouchers for airlines and limousines
• Prepare and process purchasing requisitions
• Assist with testing of Lawson A/P upgrades, electronic payment processing and paperless invoicing as a movement towards automated operations progresses.
• Transfer files for year-end storage
• Distribute departmental mail both electronically or paper

Position Requirements

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

• One or more years of related experience

SKILLS:

• Intermediate level computer skills – Excel, Word, Internet
• Knowledge of Lawson Business Systems - preferred
• Oral and written communications skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Math aptitude
• Detail-oriented and ability to multi-task
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
