Accounts Payable Specialist - Sylmar, CA

Job Overview*
At Sunset Studios you are joining a team with a rich history in studio production services. We provide best-in-class studio and transportation services to the biggest entertainment and production companies, and we're seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist. The AP Specialist will be an active participant in the accounting department. They should be able to handle managing accounts payable and the payment process. This position is stationed in our San Fernando Valley office in Sylmar, CA.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

• Complete payments and control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
• Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
• Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports, recording entries.
• Pay vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal id numbers, scheduling, and preparing checks, and resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation.
• Ensure credit is received for outstanding memos.
• Pay employees by receiving and verifying expense reimbursement reports.
• Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
• Report sales use taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.
• Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Develop, implement, and maintain systems, procedures, and policies, including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
• Manage monthly Accounts Payable closing of financial records and posting month end information; ensure the accuracy of financial statements.
• Manage A/P. Includes Customer-Vendor Relations and the Accounts Payable disbursement group, which handles all check disbursements and 1099.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in accounting/finance
• Billing: 2 years (preferred)
• Customer Service: 2 years (preferred)
• Communication Skills

COMPENSATION:*
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $20.00- $25.00 per hour.
The salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including but not limited to market location, job-related knowledge, education/training, certifications, key skills, experience, external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment. In compliance with the California Law, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
Sunset Studios reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position within the salary range listed, taking into account the wide variety of factors listed above
