Job description
The main purpose of this role is to assist the Activities team in organising and scheduling of activities for residents.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Part-take in the multi-disciplinary team, working closely with the clinical management team to implement a meaningful and effective activity programme for the residents. Ensure that activities are also geared towards active daily living to maintain the interest and progression over time. Liaise with other individuals in order to provide variety and choice for residents
- Co-ordinate daily activities / stimulation of all residents and to be aware of individual preferences. Ensure that information on activities is made available to each resident or his / her representative in formats suited to the resident’s capabilities
- Ensure that each resident is given the opportunity to participate in meaningful and purposeful activity, quality occupation or leisure activities, both inside and outside of the care village, that suits his / her needs, preferences and capacities.
- Give consideration to residents with visual, hearing or dual sensory impairments. Residents with dementia and other cognitive impairments, residents with communication difficulties and residents with physical or learning disabilities
- Understand each resident’s care plan.
- Coordinate events and the activities team on the day. Prepare equipment in the pre-event stage. Liaise with clients and suppliers at all stages of the process
- Maintain accurate documentation of activities, participation rates, and evaluation of plans and participate in a regular review
- Maintain daily files and charts for each Resident.
- Ensure that each resident can exercise choice and control over his/her life and is encouraged and enabled to maximise independence in accordance with his / her wishes
- Ensure that the residents social, religious and cultural beliefs and values are respected and accommodated with the routine of daily living
- Assist with the orientation of new residents to the Care Village
- Establish and maintain relationships with residents, based on respect and equality
- Follow health and safety instructions, carry out tasks and adhere to safety procedures in line with the department and hospital policies.
