JOB SUMMARY

The Activities Director will participate in the design of and oversee the implementation of all activities and coordination of community transportation. The Activities Director will have primary responsibility for organizing, conducting, and evaluating planned activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with the design, organization and evaluation of a planned activity program. The activity program will be written, planned in advance, kept up to date and made available to all residents.
  • Oversee and supervise Caregivers involved in activities.
  • Assure that activities shall foster and maintain independent functioning and develop and maintain strength, coordination, and range of motion.
  • Encourage residents to participate in the planning, preparation, conduct, cleanup, and critique of planned activities.
  • Hold primary responsibility for the organization.
  • Arrange for utilization of community resources through contact with organizations and volunteers to promote resident participation in community centered activities.
  • Manages all social activities in and out of the community.
  • Plan, coordinate and participate in a variety of social events/outings in order to provide a vibrant and active community Life for the residents.
  • Schedule weekly shopping trips to meet residents' needs; arrange diverse entertainment; acknowledge residents' special days; arrange for holiday celebrations.
  • Plan and maintain a budget; order supplies for all activities.
  • Plan events which encourage prospective residents to participate in community activities; liaison with senior centers and churches.
  • Conduct an evaluation of planned activities.
  • Coordinate transportation for residents as needed.
  • Reports any suspicion or evidence of elder abuse, mistreatment or neglect as outlined in Personnel Policies.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • Be at least (18) years of age.
  • Have had at least one year of experience in conducting group activities and be knowledgeable in evaluating resident needs, supervising other employees, and in training volunteers.
  • Has current Adult First Aid card upon hire and maintains current status throughout employment.
  • Must be criminally cleared by DOJ and FBI via the Live-Scan process prior to initial presence in the facility.
  • Must have a clean driving record as per the insurance carrier's policy.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be in good health; physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks.
  • Good physical health and freedom from tuberculosis shall be verified by a health screening performed by a physician not more than (6) months prior to or (7) days after employment.
  • Required to stoop, carry, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, climb grip, reach, drive, push and pull.
  • Ability to lift waist high and lift to floor level.
  • Required to use fine motor and manual dexterity skills in writing, keyboarding and grasping.
  • Ability to operate vehicles.
