Job description
WTW is the leading provider of retirement consulting and actuarial services to today’s global organisations. The Retirement team helps organisations develop retirement programs that meet their workforce needs and financial management strategies to deal with the impact of a wide range of uncertain future economic scenarios. We partner with other WTW’s businesses and clients around the globe to determine the best approaches to design, fund, govern, administer, invest and communicate retirement programs and their assets.
An exciting opportunity has become available for an Actuarial Analyst for our Retirement team. Retirement is part of our largest Line of Business, Human Capital and Benefits, and we work with Trustees and Companies to tackle their pension needs. High-performing institutions cultivate and grow talent, carefully balancing costs and rewards. From employee benefits to executive compensation, we take a rounded perspective, based on leading-edge thinking, data, analytics and software, unearthing new ways to motivate people, foster wellbeing and implement solutions that work.
The Role
As an Actuarial analyst in the Defined Benefit Retirement Team you will be a key part of a team on a number of Trustee and Corporate consulting Clients. Your role will involve:
Contributing to the delivery of complex project work such as funding valuations, accounting valuations, pension change and other liability management projects;
Contributing to the delivery of the day to day services required by our clients;
Preparing or drafting client deliverables for review by the lead consultant;
Assisting with development of more junior colleagues on client teams;
Working with the team to identify areas to improve efficiency in order to help us as a business meet the increasing pressures we face from our clients to help them reduce their costs;
Contributing to discussions regarding management of client accounts and suggest current issues to be raised with the client.
You will also be expected to seek and participate in development opportunities and maintain steady progress through the actuarial exams. As you develop your consulting skills and gain more expertise your role will then also involve:
Being a key contact for your clients;
Being the project manager for larger, more complex projects
WTW can offer the successful candidates with a fun and engaging environment working with some of the best people in our industry. WTW rewards our colleagues efforts with a competitive salary and a very comprehensive benefits package including a generous discretionary bonus, a great pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance, between other benefits.
At WTW, we trust you to know your work and the people, tools, and environment you need to be successful. Most of our colleagues work in a” hybrid” style, with a mix of remote, in-person and in-office interactions dependent on the needs of the team, role, and clients. Our flexibility is rooted in trust and “hybrid” is not a one-size-fits-all solution.
The Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required;
Progress towards qualification in the actuarial exams;
Well organised and detail oriented;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate;
Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner;
Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues; strong client service orientation;
Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environment;
Sense of accountability; owning one’s work and taking pride in it;
Self starter; interest in continually challenging oneself and willingness to step outside of one’s comfort zone;
Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one’s work fits into the broader landscape;
Strong analytical skills including the ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way;
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.
