Job description

Applications are invited for an appointment as Traveller Education Officer at NUI Galway.

NUI Galway is currently seeking a Traveller Education Officer to manage the delivery of the project Mincéirs Misl'd in Education - Empowering Irish Travellers to transition and build a sense of belonging in Higher Education in the region. This PATH funded initiative will develop an Irish Traveller community embedded and culturally inclusive model that will empower the Travelling community to identify and overcome barriers to access, progression, retention, and success in higher education (HE).
The Traveller Education Officer is part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals supporting students that are under-represented in higher education from the pre-entry stage of the student journey and throughout their time in NUI Galway and the ATU (Galway/ Mayo). This role is vitally important in ensuring Traveller students success and retention in higher education. In partnership with the Travelling community and building on critical government policies and strategies, this initiative will provide a detailed, evidence-based understanding of barriers to access, progression, and retention to higher education for Irish Travellers.
