The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.The Administrative Support Specialist position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Facilities Management (FM) and provides primary clerical and service support to the AVC. Position is the primary public contact for Facilities Management and it is imperative that the person occupying this position apply the knowledge of FM programs, policies and procedures to interpret and communicate information to the faculty/staff on campus. May also have contact with external clients and must have the knowledge as to where to direct the calls. Position also supports the Work Control Center. The Work Control Center involves the areas of Work Order initiation, project and renovation management, Motor Pool and Vehicle Management operations, Travel, and two-way radio communication with service personnel
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Ability to relate to the facility needs of the University; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with faculty, staff, students, and off-campus individuals to determine their needs and/or direct them to appropriate personnel; working knowledge of networked computers, word processing, and spreadsheet software; and ability to cope with problems created by the work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
The position must integrate various software systems or demonstrate the ability to learn new systems as they relate to Facilities Management. TMA, Microsoft Word, Excel and the Motor Pool system are the most critical systems which are used by this position.
