Under general direction of the supervisor, the ADMITTING REPRESENTATIVE LEAD (Patient Services Specialist Lead) provides guidance and direction to assigned staff; sets priorities, assigns tasks, trains, directs daily workflow, maximizes efficiency, and serves as a positive role model to improve department performance. In addition, the Admitting Representative Lead performs a variety of admitting department tasks including but not limited to: Patient registration, general clerical support, customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but is not limited to:
Makes, coordinates, and monitors daily work assignments.
Assists with establishing work schedules.
Acts as resource; gives advice and instructions to employees; coaches staff on
assigned tasks; facilitates problem/issue resolution.
Coordinates departmental operations
Monitors workflow and expedites work completion; assures that deadlines are met.
Notifies supervisor of backlogs; assists management with establishing and adjusting priorities.
Solves routine operating problems.
Confers with supervisor and manager regarding extraordinary situations.
Assists management in development of operating policies and procedures.
Assures the department operates efficiently, in the absence of the supervisor or manager.
Makes recommendations to management regarding opportunities for process improvement. Participates in performance and quality improvement initiatives.
Performs admitting or pre-admitting procedures upon arrival of patients. This includes inpatients, individuals who have hospital-based outpatient testing or outpatient procedures, patients in the Emergency Room, and patients for scheduled/unscheduled procedures and surgeries.
REQUIRED
High School graduate or equivalent AND Three years of Patient Support Service experience
OR
Equivalent education/experience.
