POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will provide health services to Marathon Petroleum employees and contractors located in Catlettsburg, KY region. The incumbent will possess the ability to professionally interact and collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to prevent and manage work related injuries and illnesses and to promote total worker wellbeing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides clinical leadership for the onsite occupational health clinics. Mentors’ clinic staff in the delivery of appropriate and professional clinical services. Administers and maintains the policies, programs, and procedures of the clinic consistent with the company's general policies as defined by Corporate Health Services (CHS).
- Evaluates and treats injured and ill employees and provides emergency medical management and treatment for all injured workers.
- With the assistance of other clinic staff, performs variety of worker clinical evaluations including, but not limited to, medical surveillance examinations, worker fitness-for-duty examinations, pre-assignment/pre-placement examinations, and preventive service examinations.
- Oversees clinic case management activities. Assists in the management of workers compensation cases.
- Undertakes services such as drug and alcohol testing, medical screening, health-related studies travel medicine consultations and immunizations.
- Coordinates and leads medical efforts during medical emergencies. Serves as the liaison between the company and the local emergency room during medical emergencies involving injured workers. Is available during regular and non-business hours to assist with the plant's emergency response effort.
- Provides all clinical activities under the direction of the Corporate Medical Director (CMD) and the local collaborating physician, in accordance with applicable laws governing state licensure and national certification. Participates in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines to be used during the provision of clinical services.
- Remains current and informed on regulatory issues affecting the delivery of occupational and other health services, hazard-specific regulations regarding worker evaluation and treatment of exposures and OSHA recordable safety issues as they pertain to the clinical treatment of injury cases.
- Participates in planning for and managing the health-related aspects of disasters that can affect the safety and welfare of the employees and community.
- Acts as liaison for the company to the community at large when health concerns are at issue.
- Maintains a system of confidential medical records consistent with sound medical ethics while maintaining compliance with government regulations such as OSHA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Enforces procedures for preserving confidentiality, while allowing access to those with a bona fide need to know.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Position requires either a licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with national certification and state licensing, capable of servicing the health needs of the target population.
- At least 5 years’ experience in occupational health, or 7 years’ experience in an urgent care or emergency room setting.
- DOT medical examiner certification.
- Must hold a valid driver's license with excellent driving record.
- Must be able to pass drug test and background check.
SKILLS:
- Certifications in CPR/AED, NIOSH/CAOHC, Drug Collections and Breath Alcohol Testing, Spirometry, and ACLS preferred.
- Experience with respirator fit testing preferred.
- Individual must be highly motivated and focused on professionalism.
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication, technical, and computer skills.
- Excellent customer service expertise.
