Organization Overview
The Global Facilities Delivery (GFD) Organization, part of Corporate Engineering and Continuous Improvement, delivers new and renovated capital assets around the world. Our mission is accomplished through a highly leveraged organization of design, construction and qualification contractors. Many of the assets delivered focus on medical innovation and delivering innovative solutions to patients. Some of the assets delivered will support an expansion in supply of existing medicines or making the supply chain more robust.
Position Description:
Lilly is investing over $1 billion to create a new state-of-the-art manufacturing site, in Concord, North Carolina. The brand-new facility will utilize the latest technology to increase the company's manufacturing capacity in parenteral (injectable) medications, device assembly and packaging operations. We are currently hiring for Project Manager part of the GFD team delivering the new facility in Concord, NC. The Project Manager will join the project team delivering the overall Concord campus taking responsibility to deliver part of the project scope.
Responsibilities:
Project Management: Lead and manage a portion of the overall Concord Program based on the current approved design leading a working group consisting of both Lilly and Non-Lilly professionals to safely achieve project objectives up to operational qualification. The capacity to achieve results through people is critical. Project objectives are defined as: safety asset capability or capacity, cost, schedule and compliance. Facilitate issue resolution, anticipate scope changes, and implement safely with quality, speed, and value.
Compliance: Lead with a disciplined, structured approach to project management based on compliance with GFD and Company Policies and Procedures. rather than an approach dependent on a personal style.
Safety/Environment: Develop and maintain safety and environmental execution plans for projects. Ensure compliance to safety and external regulation and internal policies, procedures, and work rules for project personnel, contractors, and subcontractors during the entire project duration. Help in achieving all HSE Corporate and Site project-related goals.
Interface/Communication: Develop and maintain effective communication within the project team and externally (governance teams, business partners and other stakeholders) as the size of the project may dictate. Monitor the assigned portion of the project until completion, tracking and reporting metrics, informing Project Sr Leadership on stratus, progress and issues, resource need and constraints, prioritization need. Interact with other project managers within the Concord Campus project and within the company to share information and best practices, consulting/mentoring other project managers when needed.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science - Engineering or field related to project management (i.e. construction management), or equivalent experience.
- 10 Years previous experience in project delivery.
Additional Skills and Preferences:
- Capital Project Management Experience in Pharma manufacturing facilities (Bulk API, sterile products, secondary packaging, Devices and to a lesser extent lab projects.)
- Previous experience on projects >$25+ million.
- Experience in most of the following disciplines: Automation, construction, construction quality, project controls, the engineering disciplines, safety, scheduling.
- Willingness to relocate and/or travel to locations outside of home state/country and have the demonstrated ability to work at long distances with little supervision.
- Must exhibit a good sense of judgment in decision making, without the need for management approval while at the same time keeping management informed and engaged on critical issues.
- Competency in a foreign language(s).
- Professional Engineer or equivalent technical certification.
- Master in Project Management, PMP certification, or MBA would be beneficial.
- Past experience in working and/or living outside the U.S.
- Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams and Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Ability to achieve results through people, influencing personnel and organizations without having direct administrative responsibility for them.
- Ability to communicate and influence effectively across functional groups and stakeholders
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Enthusiasm for changes, team spirit and flexibility. Demonstrated willingness to embrace the concept of continuous improvement.
