The Education Specialist provides support and leadership to the educational program at the Achieving Independence Center (AIC), and takes a role in developing new educational-focused program activities. The individual in this position will act as a liaison to the lead agency, supervises student interns and work study students assigned. This individual will also be expected to provide direct services to AIC clients. The Evaluation Specialist will help prepare work plan, create timely reports and regular reviews of required contract deliverables.


Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field and at least two years of experience working with youth and young adults aging out of foster care. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred:

Master’s Degree


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to teach, motivate and relate to target populations
  • Demonstrated effective classroom management and curriculum development skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse population of staff and students.
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem solving, and management skills for classrooms and self-supervision.
  • Demonstrated management skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills

Preferred:

  • Bilingual skills
  • Knowledge of Child Welfare Laws (ASFA) as well as ACT 179 Child Protective Services Law and the Child Abuse Prevention Treatment Act (CAPTA) preferred
  • Knowledge of resources available to youth aging out of foster care.
  • Knowledge of Temple University’s policies and procedures
