This position will support HII-NNS in San Diego, CA as an Aircraft Launching Recovery Equipment (ALRE) Ship Superintendent. This is a key position to the CVN Project Team for In-Service Carriers.
What You Will Do
- Prepares and coordinates the plans and schedules for new or existing programs. Determines, monitors, and reviews costs, operational budgets and schedules, and manpower requirements.
- Supports and participates in negotiations with customer.
- Analyzes effects of projects upon various areas such as Engineering, Facilities, and the labor pool to determine the most practical and cost-efficient methods to obtain the required resources.
- Resolves proposal preparation problems and assesses the progress against established plans and parameters.
- Formulates and recommends corrective action measures such as schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements.
- Responsibilities include progressing work, de-conflicting and prioritizing work performed by various NNS subcontractors throughout the ship.
- Work will entail preservation, mechanical, structural and electrical repairs and upgrades.
- The successful candidate will have experience with all facets for ALRE equipment.
What You Must Have
- 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
- Selected candidate must have the following experience:
- Successfully completed tours onboard one or more CVNs.
- Maintaining MK 7 MOD 3 Aircraft Recovery (ARC) arresting gear engines and associated equipment.
- Arresting Gear: Overhauled Main Engine Cylinders, Crossheads, Constant Run Out Valve, anchor dampers, sheave dampers, fairlead drives and barricade systems, accumulators, coolers and retractable sheave assemblies.
- Submitting and tracking maintenance actions and conducing equipment inspections.
- Supporting INSURV inspections.
- Conducting internal/external audits and inspections IAW Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment Maintenance Program (ALREMP). To include preparation of audit reports and corrective actions.
- Using Electronic Shift Operation Management System (E-SOMS) and Electronic Work Authorizing Form (E-WAF).
- Working in confined spaces.
- Being a liaison between Government and contractors for scheduling, witnessing and conducting inspections and tests.
- Using technical references such as technical manuals, drawings and other Navy publications.
- Must be able to climb multi-level ladders and stairs.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain military base access and ships access.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance.
