We are searching for experienced chemists to join our team. Our ALS laboratory located in Kelso Washington has several analyst positions open. The analyst positions could be operating various instruments within our PFAS, GC-MS, GC, metals, or General Chemistry departments. Pay is based on experience, education, and analyst position. Overtime is available.

Overview

ALS Kelso is a full service environmental laboratory. Our 57000 sqft facility employs over 100 employees with opportunities for growth and development. We offer methods including: PFAS by EPA 537.1, 533, and 1633. SVOCs by EPA 8270 PAH, VOCs by 8260, NWTPH, DRO RRO by 8015. Metals by 6020, 6010, 200.8, 200.7. Mercury by 245.1 7471, 7470. General chemistry to include BoD, TOC by 9060, IC by 300.0. We also offer a variety of ASTM methods.

ALS Kelso holds certification with the following regulatory agencies: DoD, NELAP, NELAC, ISO-17025, NYDEC, WADOH, CAELAP, ORELAP.

Primary Objectives:

Analyst will be responsible for analyzing samples using manual and more complex instrumental techniques in accordance with prescribed methods and standard operating procedures.

Analyst has the following duties:

• Perform all duties associated with sample analysis of more complex laboratory tests.
• Analyze, interpret and review sample results, as well as, peer review of others data.
• Perform all quality control requirements associated with the methods and maintain appropriate records.
• Perform all work within established quality control parameters and within specified turnaround times.
• Record bench level observations and keep records in bound and electronic notebooks.
• Troubleshoot and fix instrument malfunctions.
• Maintain safe working conditions and a clean, orderly work area at all times.
• Exercise laboratory safety practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• AA in science required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related science is preferred.
• 4 - 8 years of analytical laboratory experience is preferred.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to initiate corrective action without prompting and assist co-workers whenever necessary in order to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to effectively perform duties under pressures arising from large sample volumes and short turn-around times.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to use (or learn to use) Laboratory Information Management System.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 - $32.00 per hour
