AES Clean Energy (AES) is currently seeking a Wind Development Analyst to support project development efforts as a member of AES’s Western US Wind Team. The Wind Team is responsible for internal origination, development, and execution of wind projects throughout the country. The successful candidate will report to a Project Manager to help identify sites for wind development, interact with landowners, and support day to day project development activities as well as due diligence efforts. This is a fast-paced role working with internal and external key stakeholders and will provide immediate exposure to all aspects of wind project development.
This position will be based in Louisville, CO and requires 25% travel to project sites in the region. The role requires the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently and navigate competing work flows. The successful candidate will work on a cross functional team with origination, project development, legal, real estate, finance, engineering, construction, outside consultants, landowners, customers, project stakeholders, and utility companies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct land, market, regulatory and related project research to assist Wind Team
  • Interact with and establish relationships with landowners to secure site control
  • Manage and maintain landowner relationships, landowner communication databases, and project siting databases
  • Assist in creating maps and detailed reports
  • Assist in document and contract preparation
  • Maintain project schedule and budget creation for wind development pipeline
  • Identify and clearly articulate project risks, opportunities and recommend action(s)
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources to perform project development duties to assist Wind Team as required
  • Coordinate site diligence in conjunction with internal teams and consultants including critical issue screening, environmental studies, surveys, diligence reports, title review, property tax matters, community relations, etc.
  • Support due diligence efforts for prospective project M&A opportunities
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Passion for renewable energy development
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in geography, environmental sciences, business, communication, or related field
  • 0 to 2 years of sales, project management, or development experience in renewable energy or related field
  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and Google Earth strongly preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software with strong Excel skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Basic knowledge of wind energy fundamentals including project development, energy markets, utilities, interconnection, permitting, and contracting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to support in the preparation of executive management presentation materials
  • Self-motivated, very self-reliant, and capable of operating with minimum supervision
  • Strong time management skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Real Estate knowledge and experience a plus
  • Must have a valid driver's license and flexibility to travel to different AES CE's sites.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $60.000 and $76.500/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
