Job Summary:

Under close supervision, the Electrician Apprentice perform duties that include but are not limited to removal, repair and installation of electrical components and basic to intermediate troubleshooting where the primary objective is safe operation. Assist in the safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs.

The Electrician Apprentice will assist the Lead Solar Electrician in a variety of field services to customers currently in process and Elevated Customers. Including but not limited to; assist in installation of Smart Home Motioning Systems, Demand Management Systems and trouble shooting solar systems. This position is 70% in the field and 30% driving between appointments. Perform other duties as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in installing electrical solar and Smart Home systems.
• Install electrical outlets, and circuit breakers.
• Thread conduit ends and connect couplings and conduit fittings using wrench.
• Secure brackets to bulkheads with screws and bolts and pull wires through conduit leading to connection boxes, switch panels, and other terminals.
• Use tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, and wire strippers.
• Replace faulty circuit breakers, fuses, switches, electrical and electronic components, or wire.
• Replace old fuse boxes.
• Hook up for power.
• Repair solar systems.
• Consult with Journeyman Electrician when performing installations.
• Assist in solar inspections.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Passion for electric/electronic maintenance repair, inspection, testing, installation and/or maintenance of related electrical/electronic equipment.
• Solar PV experiences a plus.
• Basic electrical aptitude.
• Maintain solar site in a safe manner.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on solar site equipment and wiring under the supervision of the Lead Solar Electrician.
• Ability to operate test equipment such as voltmeters, meggers, ampmeters, high potential test equipment under the supervision of the Lead Solar Electrician.
• Ability to communicate status of jobs, or work issues to Lead Solar Electrician.
• Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
• Ability to use a personal computer and associated software.
• Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license.
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal, driving and drug screen.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Working Conditions (Environment, Travel)

• Work outside in a variety of temperatures and conditions in accordance with Heat Stress procedures.
• Work around energized electrical equipment
• Must be prepared to work irregular shifts and respond to emergency callouts 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
• Ability to work in stressful environments: must be able to react to crises where immediate action is required to correct or curtail potentially damaging or hazardous situations.
• Requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, shoveling, climbing, and working with hand tools (up to 25 pounds) in positions above and below head, and extended from body to complete repairs.
• Ability to discern assorted colors
• Ability to twist the body and neck while driving company vehicles
• Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops
• Work with and around hazardous and non-hazardous materials
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Have ability to discern and respond to verbal and auditory signals
• Work in small spaces like attics
