Fancy working with jaw-some sharks, colourful clownfish, or perhaps inquisitive cow nosed rays? We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic Aquarist to join our passionate animal care team at SEA LIFE Bray.

Working here feels pretty outstanding, but also very cold, wet, and rather smelly at times. Therefore, we’re looking for someone who strives for the best, goes deeper and isn't afraid to swim upstream.

What we are looking for

• A qualification in animal care, marine biology, or equivalent experience within a similar animal husbandry background
• Experience with maintenance, plumbing and operation of life support systems within an aquarium setting
• An understanding of the fundamentals of water chemistry as applied to an aquarium environment
• Someone who already has a passion for the ocean, it’s creatures and conservation

We have lots of animals here and you will find that no two days are ever the same. Your work routine (if you can call it that) will be divided by an assigned area. During a typical day you could be creating enrichment for our lovely Octopus or feeding Bonnie our bonnethead shark (we’re home to the largest collection of sharks in Ireland by the way!). You could also enter a display for siphoning and get really close to our rays.

We have cold fresh water, native marine, tropical fresh water, Rivers of the World dedicated area (upside-down catfish, yellow bellied slider terrapins, piranha) and lots of life support systems to take care of as each tank has its own dedicated system!

Working alongside the Guest Experience team you will support with giving talks to our guests, providing information about the animals within the aquarium, entertaining and educating our visitors and making their journey into the deep a memorable one

This is a full-time, permanent role and includes working a regular, fair share of weekends and bank holidays as required. As well as providing emergency call out cover on a roster basis.
