Salary: $47,500.00 - $71,250.00
- Provides art therapy services to participants in a residential treatment program and collaborates with treatment team members.
- Conducts assessments as determined by individualized treatment needs, contributes to the development of wellness plans and behavior support plans and monitors progress toward art therapy goals.
- Provides staff education and training on individual treatment needs and topics in support of the care of program participants.
- Support the individual in the treatment milieu in collaboration with other treatment team members.
- Maintains positive working relationships with residents and team members.
- Devises specialized art therapy interventions to fulfill identified needs that create positive growth experiences for our residents.
- Organize and oversee weekly art therapy groups and individual sessions as needed. Assists in selection of clinically appropriate participants for art therapy services.
- Identifies goals and commitment for length of services.
- Reviews resident’s art productions and relates them to the therapeutic process.
- Supports residents and direct care staff in the use of art materials. Encourages creative expression through the arts to enhance therapeutic alliance.
- Promote the understanding of and need for creative arts and skills development in the resident’s lives.
- Maintain budget and track expenses used for art therapy supplies. Assist in the selection, maintenance and storage of supplies and equipment, within budget limitations.
- Monitors the progress of each participant toward the achievement of individualized art therapy goals.
- Complete all required documentation, including, but not limited to progress notes, monthly summaries, Biopsychosocial evaluations, wellness plans, behavior support plans and discharge summaries relevant to art therapy services.
- Participate in ongoing collaborative team meetings in support of participant care.
- Maintain credentials and continuing education requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate degree in art therapy or a clinical/counseling program with a concentration in art therapy or a related discipline with art therapy experience.
- Licensed Art Therapist preferred. Familiarity with evidence-based practices.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in the field of social services and/or working with children or adolescents.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prior to employment, personnel requirements include three professional references, medical certification and child abuse clearance.
