Position Overview:

With focus on safety, quality and productivity, the assembly supervisor is responsible for all aspects of supervising the assembly department, including training, motivating, discipling staff, improving production methods, and meeting production goals. The assembly supervisor will lead a staff of 20 to 30 employees divided in to five segments of the assembly department to complete various sub-assemblies and final assembly of our DC power systems (DC power generators in the 5 to 27 kw range). Assembly segments include:

· stator and alternator assembly - incudes stator winding and alternator assembly

· engine assembly - attaching alternator to engine blocks and mounting to generator enclosure

· hose and small item subassemblies

· door assembly - installing foam and vinyl insulation to door panels

· final generator assembly - finish installing doors to cabinet, installing wire harnesses, hoses, and miscellaneous small components

The assembly supervisor will work closely with the production manager and engineering teams to understand system design and assembly. The assembly supervisor will also communicate design matters with other production departments including sheet metal, CNC operations, welding, electronics, testing, and engineering. Oversees and manages all managed metrics including safety, quality, and productivity. Ensures all working areas are clean and orderly, free of debris and unsafe conditions.

· Ensures assigned staff adheres to all Safety policies and procedures to prevent unsafe acts and/or conditions.

· Direct a team of leads in daily activities of production to ensure that volume, scheduled deliveries, and quality standards are achieved.

· Manage setup and takt times to help the company optimize capacity planning of machines and labor.

· Coordinate with the production manager to schedule, track and complete work orders and meet production goals.

· Coordinate with engineering department to implement new fixtures and tooling, and to maximize the use of equipment to increase productivity while maintaining safety standards.

· Work with engineering to resolve engineering and equipment related problems affecting production.

· Work with engineering and facilities management to organize the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment.

· Coordinate with materials manager and purchasing teams to make sure materials arrive at work cells in a timely manner.

· Work with the QC department to ensure production meets engineering design specifications and quality standards.

· Coordinate with HR in educating staff and enforcing safety rules and procedures on the shop floor. Investigate and document all near misses, unsafe acts and conditions, and accidents.

· Partner with HR in acquiring talent, employee performance management, development, and training. In conjunction with HR oversea the hiring and firing of factory workers.

· Be a strong leader, communicator, with a positive attitude to coach, train, motivate, and drive a team-oriented Company culture.

· Report weekly and monthly production performance, challenges, and requirements.

Supervisory duties:

· RSTMM: Recruit, Select, Train, Manage and Motivate assigned staff to meet employee, departmental and company goals, including all managed metrics, e.g., safety, quality, accuracy and productivity.

Qualifications and skills:

REQUIRED:

  • This position requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience managing labor performing multiple production processes.
  • Effective organizational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Process-oriented and creative problem solver.
  • Ability to work in and promote a team environment.
  • Experience with MRP / MRP II / ERP (SAP Business One preferred)

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS).
  • 10+ years applicable experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in electro-mechanical, engine assembly, generator, fabrication, production environment highly preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This

position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling,

and climbing all day; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee

must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job

include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust

focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
