Position Summary
The Assistant Accounting Manager position is responsible for timely and accurately providing a variety of accounting and bookkeeping duties for Village Church and small associated organizations, including primary responsibility for all accounts payable processing.

Essential Job Functions
- Manage all accounts payable functions, including receiving invoices and internal check requests, recording transactions into Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains financial information system, processing and mailing checks, and making online payments
- Scan all donations and other receipts to bank and donor database, record deposits into financial information system, and reconcile records entered
- Manage credit cards issued to Village personnel, including paying invoices and recording payment into financial information system
- Assist with general ledger journal entries
- Assist with month-end and year-end closings of Village’s financial books
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for associated organizations
- Lead month-end and year-end closings of financial books of associated organizations
- Assist with annual audit of Village and lead annual audit of associated organizations
- File annual vendor 1099 forms
- Maintain accounting filing system
- Work on special projects as assigned
- Assist Accounting Manager and Senior Director of Business Operations as needed

- Ability to perform accounting and bookkeeping tasks in a manner consistent with best practices
- Ability to work with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to accept tasks and responsibilities beyond regular duties to help the Business Office get its work done on time and in a professional manner
- Ability and willingness to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all information
Working conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and requires the routine use of computers, printers, and other standard office equipment.
Physical Demands
The physical functions required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position include the following:

- Frequently stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms

Hours and Location of Work
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, position. Work is performed Monday through Friday at Village’s main campus at 6641 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS during the Business Office normal working hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The employee and supervisor will agree on the actual scheduled work hours. Periodic remote work is a possibility.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum of two years of accounts payable and other accounting and bookkeeping experience including general ledger and month end and year-end reporting
- Minimum of two years of experience with computer-based financial information systems
Preferred Education and Experience
- AA or BS degree in accounting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains
- Experience with non-profit accounting
