The UTHSC embraces four missions: education, research, clinical care, and institutional service, and responsibilities will include these missions. Teaching responsibilities include both didactic course work (online and in person) and clinical supervision of students in the nurse midwifery program and other programs/courses as needed. Teaching experience at the graduate level with the ability to teach full scope midwifery care is desired. Responsibilities for this role include clinical practice placements, clinical site visits, and mentoring of projects for nurse midwifery students in addition to other educational responsibilities. Research/scholarship activities, as well as service responsibilities, will be determined in collaboration with Department Chair. This position is eligible for the College’s faculty practice plan.

Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee required. American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) Certification/recertification (CNM) and practice experience as a Nurse Midwife is required. Earned doctoral degree from an accredited university required. Academic rank is commensurate with degree and academic experience.
- Teaching experience at the graduate level with the ability to teach full scope midwifery care is desired.
- Teaching experience in a DNP program is preferred.
- Recent clinical experience as a CNM is preferred.
- Demonstration of scholarship related activities (for example, abstracts at conferences, published manuscripts, grant funding) is preferred.
