Sheboygan County Head Start

$2,000 Sign on Bonus

Title: One-On-One Aide

Status: Full Time/Part Year – 30 hours

Reports to: Special Needs Mental Health Manager
Responsibilities: Provides support and assistance in the classroom, maintains confidentiality at all times, and possesses strong communication and organization skills. Provides support in classrooms as determined by the Special Needs/ Mental Health Manager and Education Manager. Participates in family activities.

Classroom Aide Duties:
1. Projects a positive and courteous attitude and image to families, children and community.

2. Provides a warm accepting environment for all Head Start/Early Head Start children and families, and encourages parent involvement to the fullest extent possible.

3. Shadows assigned children on class field trips.

4. Responsible for health and safety of the assigned children on the bus, in the classroom and outdoors as needed.

5. Uses positive discipline with assigned children following the Head Start Discipline Policy.

6. Complies with Wisconsin State Statures Children’s Code and Head Start Personnel Policies in suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.

7. Follows all Wisconsin Day Care Licensing Regulations.

8. Assists in collecting and preparing data as needed for each assigned child.

9. Follows emergency procedures according to Head Start Policies.

10. Is an active and positive team member at the site.

11. Substitutes as needed only when approved by Mental Health Manager.

12. Maintains confidentiality at all times, during work hours and in the community.

14 Attends appropriate Head Start and other agency related meetings as contracted hours permit when SNMHM is unavailable.(IEP’s, staffings, conferences)

15. Attends Head Start provided in-services and participates in at least 25 hours of continuing education opportunities per program year.

16. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Associates degree with Early Childhood background or Special needs experience preferred

2. Effective verbal and written communication skills.

3. Basic First Aid and Infant/Child CPR, Shaken Baby.

4. Recommended to have a working knowledge of community resources available to low-income families. .

5. Speaking and writing skills that enable effective communication.

6. Must be able to keep accurate records, file monthly reports, and make all necessary documentation in a timely manner.

7. Must be able to work with adults, children, and people with varied backgrounds and beliefs.

8. Must be in good health and obtain a physical examination as required.

9. Requires regular kneeling, bending and sitting on the floor to attend to the needs of the children. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

10. Must have a Mantoux tuberculin testing upon hire.

11. Must have a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, including liability, and an automobile for occasional use on the job.

12. Must be able to occasionally work irregular hours.
