Landscaping Crew Leader

JOB PURPOSE:
Leads Crew Members, participates in landscaping work, fills in for Crew Leaders that are unavailable and works alongside Crew Leaders to ensure the highest level of quality.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Works alongside Crew Leaders to ensure all services provided and processes implemented are meeting or exceeding the Coastal Cuts Landscaping standard.

· Communicates with Manager on a consistent basis to discuss service or process enhancements.

· Coordinates and leads Crew Members in routine landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks. Prioritizes and monitors work assignments.

· Performs mowing, trimming and edging turf areas using riding mower, push mower, weed whip and edger.

· Mulches, weeds, removes thatch, aerates, and trims and edges around flower beds, walks, pathways and walls.

· Prepares planting beds with hand and power tools; integrates soil amendments; plants bulbs, flowers, ground covers, trees and shrubs; applies mulch.

· Inspects trees and landscape plants for pests and disease.

· Prunes trees, shrubs, vines and hedges.

· Applies seed, fertilizer and chemicals.

· Drives truck with attached trailer.

• Participate in the execution of all work orders with other crew members and ensures completion at a high standard.
• Operates all lawn mowing equipment and vehicles in a safe manner.
• Interacts with clients and vendors with a professional and positive demeanor at all times.

· Installation of fabric, sod, decorative rock, mulch, etc.

· Operate light and heavy equipment, power tools and hand tools.

· Keep work vehicles and equipment clean, maintained and organized.

· Perform daily equipment safety checks and routine maintenance as needed.

• Perform such other activities that may be temporarily or permanently assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of tools, equipment, techniques, skills, materials, and methods of landscaping and maintenance of lawns and formal plantings.

· Ability to lead, plan, and organize the work of Crew Members.

· Ability to work across the organization to improve the services and processes of the organization.

· Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.

· Ability to work in safe and efficient manner.

· Ability to interact professionally with all customers, employees and those from external organizations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Two years landscape or grounds related work with demonstrated leadership skills. Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license

* This position requires physical abilities such as strength, manual dexterity, and must be able to perform all required functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the landscape crew member is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, lift, crouch, reach, stoop, crawl or kneel. The position is regularly exposed to outdoor environmental conditions including extreme hot and cold conditions. Additional working conditions may include inadequate lighting, restricted movement and dirty/wet worksites. This position may be occasionally required to work on weekends. Due to seasonal nature of work, some peak load situations may arise.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
