Position Highlights
The Assistant Dean for DEI will have a critical role in championing and promoting DEI related efforts in the college. They will be the liaison between the Dean's office and the various stakeholders including the department heads, DEI committee, students, and staff in developing and implementing strategies to improve the sense of belongingness in the college. They will also act as the college's interface with the DEI efforts in the central administration. This position will report to the Dean of the Eller College and will be expected to collaborate with Associate and Assistant Deans, Department Heads, Directors, and other College leaders to create a diverse and inclusive environment for community members, including the students, staff, faculty, and alums.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • In support of the College and University, the Assistant Dean for DEI is responsible for identifying, defining, and coordinating Diversity and Inclusion work within Eller.
  • Develop guidance and provide oversite to a small team of professionals engaged in this work within the College.
  • Serve as College liaison with the University's Diversity Coordinating Council and Chief Inclusion Officer.
  • Represent the Dean’s office in DEI related activities and coordinate operational plans such as speaker series, etc.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the DEI committee within the College.
  • Coordinate with the DEI committee, department heads, and other college leaders to design strategies and initiatives that will enhance the recruitment, retention, and success of faculty, staff, and students with emphasis on underrepresented groups.
  • Define and facilitate a process to support inquiry into complex concerns ensuring follow up, education, and reporting to the appropriate University leadership and departments where needed (i.e., Dean, Human Resources, Office of Institutional Equity, and Title IX).
  • Identify measures and metrics that will be utilized to assess and support success.
  • Co-create and communicate DEI resources and programs within the College.
  • Promote the development and implementation of programs and activities to support a culture of open inquiry, pluralism, and mutual respect among students, faculty, and staff.
  • Collaborate with others who are doing this work across the University for best practices.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience is required.
