Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a Assistant Director for Campus Activities in the Overman Student Center. The primary function of the Assistant Director for Campus Activities is to be responsible for the organization management, strategic planning, budgeting, advising, and program management of University co-curricular engagement opportunities. This may include the coordination of a comprehensive Fraternity and Sorority Life system, leadership training, major weekend activities, and/or oversight of activities organizations (the Gorilla Activities Board and Homecoming Committee).

Duties and Responsibilities of Position

45% Oversee up to two organizations: the Gorilla Activities Board (programming board), the Homecoming Committee, and/or Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL)

  • Provide guidance through attendance at general meetings, one-on-one officer meetings, and trainings/retreats
  • Ensure programs are planned, executed, and assessed in accordance with best practices, standards, and university guidelines
  • A ssist with s tructured and informal membership recruitment, membership intake, and retention
  • Attend and support events, including evenings and weekends

15% Coordinate the development and implementation of at least two campus-wide events

  • Welcome Week, Family Day, Commemoration [Apple] Day, etc.
  • Inclusive of collaborating and coordinating with stakeholders and university partners

15% Support general Campus Activities operations

  • Assist with leadership initiatives, including workshops, retreats, and recognition programs
  • Assist in developing plans, policies, and procedures
  • Represent the office when requested including class presentations and event tabling to promote student involvement opportunities
  • Serve on various university committees

10% Manage and maintain budgets

  • Track program expenditures
  • Negotiate contracts
  • Order supplies
  • Make travel arrangements
  • Administer association memberships
  • Other associated duties

Education and Experience – Required at Hire and Preferred

Required Education and Experience at Hire –

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Administration, or related field. (Two years of full-time, professional experience in student affairs or related graduate work may be substituted for education, as determined relevant by the University.)
  • One year of experience designing, coordinating, facilitating, and evaluating co-curricular activities and programs (graduate work in this area is acceptable)
  • One year of experience advising student groups (graduate work in this area is acceptable)

Preferred Education and Experience –

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Administration or related field
  • Experience with risk reduction, investigation, and conduct adjudication
  • Experience supporting, engaging, and expansion with culturally Greek letter organizations
  • Experience working with talent agencies and negotiating contracts

Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience

Job Type: Unclassified

Appointment Duration: 12 months

Work Schedule: Full Time – Monday through Friday, some nights and weekends
