Job Description Summary
This position recruits and evaluates candidates for admission to the JD program and manages applicant records in institutional systems and databases as a key member of the Admissions & Financial Aid team at the School of Law. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of JD applicant data, including creation of new student records for enrolling students. Additionally, this position will update payment data for application fees and enrollment deposits.
Job Description
Data Management
- Creates, manages, and updates applicant records in institutional systems and databases such as ACES2/Unite, Slate, and Banner/Workday SIS.
- Creates new student records in SIS for enrolling students.
- Reviews payment submissions and updates payment data with regards to application fees and enrollment deposits.
- Supports release and notification of admission decisions and scholarship awards to applicants.
- Supports transactional communications to applicants regarding application and enrollment status.
- Trains administrative assistant and student workers as needed on updating records in institutional systems and databases.
Application Review
- Evaluates JD applications and recommends admission decisions in a timely fashion, consistent with institutional goals regarding enrollment revenue and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Assists with evaluation of applicants for certain named and endowed scholarships.
Recruitment & Engagement
- Recruits and engages prospective students and other constituents.
- Generates and converts leads through the application funnel from prospective student inquiry through matriculation while achieving institutional goals regarding enrollment revenue and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Identifies and develops effective recruitment and marketing strategies: visiting other campuses, presentations, attending in-person and virtual events, email campaigns, phone campaigns, direct mail campaigns, social media campaigns, pipeline programs, and on-campus events.
- Supports planning and execution of tours, admitted student days, on-campus workshops, and other on-campus admissions events.
- Travels overnight, especially in the fall.
Other
- Provides admission support for the LLM, SJD, and MSL programs occasionally.
- Some overnight travel is required, especially in the fall, along with some evening/weekend work.
- May perform additional or other work as assigned.
Accountabilities
- This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid at the School of Law and interactions with Law School faculty, staff, and students along with potential and incoming students, families, and guests.
- Must be financially savvy in order to use resources effectively but is not responsible for budget or people management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of demonstrated success in related areas such as admissions, recruiting, financial aid, operations, sales, marketing, and communications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including writing and customer service
- Experience with maintaining and updating database records
- Driver’s license or ability to obtain driver’s license
- Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight travel, both locally and nationally
Preferred Qualifications
- JD, Master’s, or equivalent degree
- 2+ years of demonstrated success in related areas such as admissions, recruiting, financial aid, operations, administration, sales, marketing, and communications
- Knowledge of the law school admissions process
- Working knowledge of ACES2, Unite, Slate, Banner, and/or Workday SIS
- Experience with event planning and execution
