Post Specific Related Information:

The post holder will be assigned to manage the operational activity in the hospital during out of hour’s periods. Responsibilities will include; a bed management responsibility, management of complex clinical/non clinical, operational situations and provision of clinical support, expertise and advice for all grades of staff. The post holder will be required to rotate across night duty, day time and weekend shifts. The post holder will be expected to influence and lead on identified clinical and non-clinical programmes as defined by the Director of Nursing, and support the operational and strategic plan for Midwifery services as defined by the Director of Midwifery. The Assistant Director of Nursing role is a key Nursing leadership role and as such the post holder is central to the delivery of the Louth Hospitals, and RCSI Hospital Group Strategy and national nursing strategy. This will include; contributing to the development of key process and outcome standards and objectives, the development of Key performance indicators and monitoring of same, taking a lead in quality assurance programmes. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality evidenced based nursing practice in designated areas of responsibility. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that Nursing care and Nursing service delivery is adapted to meet the emerging needs of our patients and to reflect best practice on a continuous basis. In doing so the post holder will ensure a service user centeredness approach to service developments and delivery. The post holder will have a lead role in the clinical governance of Nursing services in defined service areas. This will include; contributing to the development of key process and outcome standards and objectives, the development of Key performance indicators and monitoring of same, taking a lead in quality assurance programmes. The Assistant Director of Nursing role is a key Nursing leadership role and as such the post holder is central to the delivery of the Louth Hospitals, and RCSI Hospital Group Strategy and national nursing strategy.
