Job Summary
Responsible for the management and operations of productions that support the strategic goals and initiatives of the dance department. Oversees the productions of the dance department and supports the planning, preparations, and execution for all productions, production budget lines, residencies, and special events.
Responsibilities
1. Designs, directs, and implements comprehensive live event technical production, for all performances produced by the department, or as appropriate for external clients
2. Manages the work and professional development of assigned staff and/or student assistants
3. Collaborates with Faculty on artistic initiatives and ways of using technology to enhance performances
4. Directs the implementation of initiatives and technical support of the systems for faculty and students
5. Manages the collection and dissemination of production related information for all events to primary stakeholders to ensure effective execution of department performances and events
6. Serves as project manager and main point of contact for maintenance, special projects, and installation of facility and technology equipment
7. Acts as budget manager for facility and technology departmental budgets as assigned by the Chair
8. Manages the facility and technology inventory and maintenance schedules for the department
9. Oversees planning initiatives in coordination with leadership, faculty and university partners to develop a strategic vision for department facilities, technology and special projects
10. Supervises and trains assigned staff, student assistants and contracted vendors for all department and/or location event productions, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and best practices
11. Assists in the creation and maintenance of policies, procedures, guidelines and best practices for the department
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted Georgia driver's license
Required Experience
Three (3) years of related work experience in live concert and/or event production including two (2) years supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree of Fine Arts from an accredited institution of higher education
Preferred Experience
Experience in general production, lighting design, and/or experience in a comparable role at an institution of higher education preferred
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Able to work in partnership with staff, faculty, administrators, and student leaders
Able to plan, coordinate and complete large scale, detail-oriented projects and events
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Experience with empowerment of students and creative educational programming
Experience in the development and creation of innovative programs
Successful track record in planning, coordinating, and completing large scale, detail-oriented projects and events
May need to have knowledge and/or experience with additional computer applications specific to the role, such as Digital audio workstations including Protools and dLive Director, Video editing and broadcast software including Premiere Pro, Atem Software Control, and Blackmagic Videohub, Vista lighting software, Wirecast streaming software, Photoshop photo editing software, Dante audio and video networking software
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Analytical thinking and creative skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
