J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines is one of California’s leading family-owned and operated wineries, with sustainably farmed, estate vineyards in Paso Robles, Monterey, and Napa Valley. J. Lohr is looking to add a full-time team member to its Hospitality Team. With headquarters in San Jose, J. Lohr’s tasting room doors opened in 1975, making it the first winery to open in central San Jose post-prohibition. This position has a unique opportunity to greet and host domestic and international visitors who love the J. Lohr brand. The Assistant Hospitality Manager leverages J. Lohr’s Hospitality Service Standards and Family, Place, and Craft brand storytelling to deliver enriching and memorable experiences for all J. Lohr guests, with a special emphasis on winery-exclusive and small-lot wines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. J. LOHR SAN JOSE WINE CENTER SUPERVISION: Provides manager-on-duty support as directed by the Hospitality Manager. This may include supervising the day-to-day hospitality services for the J. Lohr San Jose Wine Center when the Hospitality Manager is not present, ensuring that guests are treated with exceptional customer service, the facility is organized and presentable, and wines/merchandise are always available. Regularly hosts guests for seated, elevated experiences and walk-in tastings. Can execute responsibilities with minimal supervision when needed.
2. WARM WELCOME: Greets all guests timely in a welcoming and friendly manner. Determines if guests are J. Lohr Wine Club members, general public, or have a reservation for a seated tasting. Explains Wine Center tasting experiences and directs guests to specific tasting areas. Monitors guest reservations in Tock software.
3. VIP, DISTRIBUTOR, MEDIA, MEMBER AND CONSUMER VISITS: Supports VIP visits and elevated tasting experiences as directed by the Hospitality Manager.
4. EVENTS: Available to work onsite and offsite events as directed by the Hospitality Manager.
5. OTHER DUTIES: As with all positions at J. Lohr, other jobs or special projects may arise outside the realm of this job description. Successfully executing other assignments on an as-needed basis is expected and appreciated of every employee.
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. A friendly, welcoming and professional personality.
2. At least three years hospitality experience.
3. Interest in wine culture, common varietals, relevant growing regions, and food.
4. Available to consistently work weekends and some holidays.
5. Retail management software skills and experience with WineDirect and Tock (or similar POS and reservation software) is highly desired.
6. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with others and contribute to a positive team culture.
7. A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record acceptable to the winery’s insurance carrier.
8. Responsible Beverage Service and Food Handler certifications or willingness to obtain through company-sponsored courses preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires the following levels of physical activity:
· 50% - 100% of the time standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching over shoulder level, lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds; simple grasping, pushing/pulling with both hands.
· Up to 50% of the time will be sitting and fine manipulation with both hands.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to the following environmental conditions:
· Drives automotive equipment.
· Noise level exposure: Moderate.
· Outdoor weather conditions.

The expected base pay range for this role is $28-34 an hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, qualifications, geographic location, business needs, and other job-related factors permitted by law. We offer our employees a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
