Job description
Assist Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach with the daily operation of the swim program and the recruitment of student-athletes. Perform additional coaching or administrative assignment and teach for the department as requested.
Essential Job Functions
Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling, making team travel arrangements, home game management, monitoring academic progress of students, supervising student workers, working with the equipment staff on the distribution and maintenance of athletic equipment, and providing the Sports Information Office with appropriate information for publications and press releases.
Coaching duties include monitor preparation of athletic facilities for practice and meets; scout opposing teams; develop and apply team rules; and assist the head coach with team selection, practices, and meet management.

Identify, assess, and contact prospective students, arrange campus visits, develop recruiting materials and assist the Admissions Office with special events.
Perform specific duties for the Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach if needed in his absence.
Abide by University, NCAC and NCAA rules and regulations.
Perform coaching, administrative, or other duties for the department as assigned.
Teach courses for the department as needed. Participate actively in the university community. Serve on appropriate university and department committees.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree. Sound knowledge of intercollegiate swimming and demonstrated ability to coach at the college, club or high school level.

- Demonstrate an understanding of and/or experience in a residential, liberal arts college environment.
- Ability to teach physical education courses and relate well to students, fellow department members and other colleagues.
- Ability to work extended hours associated with athletic events. Ability to work in a sometimes stressful environment.
Must have a current, valid driver’s license and must be insurable under Denison’s liability insurance policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful intercollegiate swim coaching experience.
- Successful and proven experience in recruiting student athletes.
- Demonstrate an understanding of NCAA Division III, conference and institutional rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate swimming.
- One year of significant and demonstrable experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
