Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities

· Manage daily startup and shutdown procedures of packing production line in Manson

· Read, understand, and implement packing instructions, as received from Sales team

· Create and document drop assignment plan for each run and review with packing supervisor to ensure operational effectiveness. Distribute plan to appropriate individuals with enough advance preparation to enable others to prepare for runs with minimal impact to production time during changeovers.

· Operate sizer lane/drop assignment software (MAF Orphea) and equipment in accordance with manufacturer standards and per packing instructions. Make adjustments, as necessary, to sizer lane assignments in order to maintain production and quality goals.

· Monitor flow of apples from the dump tank through the sizer, ensuring flow supports production and quality goals. Includes checking and adjusting chemicals, water temperature, soap, wax, brush speed, etc. to ensure goals are met.

· Resolve line operation issues as they arise, involving appropriate assistance from mechanic/maintenance department

· Set up run data in Stamper and Agribusiness (aka CompuTech or AS400) each morning according to daily run order

· Ensure PLU labels are correctly assigned and PLU equipment is functioning properly

· Evaluate daily performance data and identify opportunities to improve processes and procedures in order to exceed production goals

· Set example of productivity and engagement for other employees in Production

· Complete all other assignments, as necessary and as received from supervisor

Secondary Job Duties/Responsibilities

· Cross-train and become competent with defect sorting software (e.g. GlobalScan, IDD), Stamper product codes assignments, and all other duties of Defect Sorting Lead.

· Become familiar with all responsibilities of Production Supervisor with purpose of being able to perform supervisor duties in the absence of the production supervisor

Education & Experience

· High school diploma or GED equivalent

· MAF sizer and sorting experience, or experience with other industry standard fruit sorting software and equipment

· Knowledge of fruit varieties, sizes, grades and lot numbers

Equipment/Technology Skills

· Experience with fruit industry equipment including: sizer/ managing the flow of fruit leading up to the sizer

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Microsoft Outlook

· Forklift certification (preferred but not required)

Additional Skills & Abilities

· Strong interpersonal, organization, and time management skills

· Effective communication in oral and written English; Spanish ability is a plus

· Mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

· Basic reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

· Ability to adapt to changes, delays or unexpected events in the work environment; ability to manage competing demands and prioritize tasks; ability to change approach or method to best fit the situation

· Ability to maintain focus for extended periods of time, complete projects with resourcefulness and synthesize complex or diverse information

· Ability to maintain satisfactory relationships with others, excellent customer service skills and a good overall understanding of appropriate human relations

Physical Abilities

· Ability to frequently perform various activities that require; sitting, standing, walking, pulling/pushing objects, climbing, grasp & reach

· Ability to move arms and hands at a rapid pace for long periods of time

· Must have good vision, smell and hearing

· Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, fingers, and feet accurately and handle precise movements

· Ability to occasionally lift 40 lbs. from floor/ shoulder level

Workplace Environmental Conditions

· Must be able to work in cold (32+ degrees Fahrenheit) and warm (80+ degrees Fahrenheit) temperature environments for extended periods of time

· Ability to tolerate potential harsh weather conditions for short or long periods of time

· Will be exposed to constant or intermittent sounds at a level sufficient to potentially cause hearing loss or fatigue. Hearing protection will be provided.

· Injury exposure to workplace hazards, warehousing machinery
