Assistant Psychologist
CHILDREN’S SERVICE,
Cabra (Dublin)
1 year Specified Purpose Contract (37 HPW)

This post is being recruited for the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT): Cabra under the progressing disability Services working with a caseload of Children and young persons with complex needs. The successful candidate will work under the clinical supervision of a Senior Psychologist in providing psychological support, including therapeutic support and formal assessments, to children and young people (aged 0 - 18 years) with complex needs attending our service.
AVISTA has 3 CDNTS and the candidate may be required to work across these 3 teams if and when the need arises.
Along with the ability to carry out all duties detailed in the job description, applicants must have:
Essential:
- A Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) accredited qualification at not less than a Level 8 at 2.1 honours grade on the QQI qualifications framework in which psychology was a major subject.
OR
- A Level 8 honours degree in another subject (2.1 or higher) together with an accredited conversion qualification at a minimum of (2.1) as conferring eligibility for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland
- Applicant must be graduate member of the PSI or the BPS
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous voluntary or paid experience working with children
- Manual Handling training
- Children First Training
- Demonstrated evaluation and research skills
Relevant training in areas specific to therapeutic interventions for children 0-18 years
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
Master's degree in a relevant area of Psychology
