Job Title: Assistant Residential Coordinator

Department: Adult Disability Services

Reports To: Residential Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Residential Coordinator, the Assistant Residential Coordinator provides support to participants with the goal of maximizing their capacity for personal growth and community membership consistent with each participant's support plan, as well as ensuring effective staffing, scheduling, and operation of the program. In the absence of the Residential Coordinator, the Assistant Res. Coordinator supervises the program staff and provides leadership for all program staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision, Training and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Participate in regular supervision with the Residential Coordinator.
  • Provide supervision as specified in the Safety Plan and in Individual Safety Assessments.
  • Provide supervision and direction to other staff and assume charge responsibilities in the absence of the Residential Coordinator.
  • Attend required trainings and other meetings as requested.
  • Provide or facilitate access to transportation for participants as needed (appointments, work, activities, religious services etc.).
  • Oversee the program household, grocery and staff activities accounts.
  • Assist Residential Coordinator in developing and implementing the staff schedule.
  • Maintain regular communication with families, guardians, Health Care Providers, DDS, other caregivers, and agency representatives. Assist with data collection, progress notes and assessments in the implementation of ISPs to ensure that participants' goals are supported.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of recreational activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model to program staff and participants in the areas of appropriate interpersonal relations, social behavior, problem-solving and appropriate dress.

Quality Assurance

  • Comply with MAB and DDS policies/procedures and all applicable state laws.
  • Comply with all program policies with respect to documentation, communication, mandated reporting, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in the documentation and implementation of Individual Support Plans, Case Reviews and support strategies including attending ISP meetings.
  • Obtain Medication Administration Certification and dispense medications to participants per physician’s orders and in compliance with MAP.
  • Support the staff and participants in the implementation of nutritional meals and menu planning.

Person Centered Planning and Support

  • Provide case management to participants, including communicating with other service providers, scheduling appointments and working with participants toward their ISP goals.
  • Advocate effectively for participants, ensuring that participants' choices, interests and needs are supported.
  • Support participants to develop and maintain meaningful relationships with friends and family members.
  • Assist participants with the maintenance, safety, appearance and cleanliness of the home.
  • Assist and instruct participants with all activities of daily living.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with the participants to discuss needs, wants and desires.

Community Partnerships

  • Ensure that participants are provided opportunities to become involved and contributing members of their communities in ways that support their individual interests and goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one-year supervisory experience required.

Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that foster healthy relationships with MAB participants and employees.
  • Analytical reader/thinker who can understand and implement state regulations and various record keeping systems in both writing and on the
    computer.
  • Team player who can give and receive productive direction, use creative problem-solving strategies, and provide effective leadership while motivating participants and staff.
  • Comfort with computers and ability to learn new reporting software.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration

  • MAB will assist employee with obtaining required MAP Certification, CPR and First Aid certificates if applicant does not have them when hired
  • Valid MA driver’s license and ability to drive program vehicles and wheelchair vans to transport participants to appointments, day programs, recreational activities, etc. Must be able to drive for extended periods of time and on highways as needed.
