Assistant Teaching Professor, Japanese
Job description
Responsibilities of this position include teaching, program-building, and engaging in service to the program, school, and university. Classes to be taught in academic year 2023-2024 are first- and second-year Japanese language courses. We use the Genki textbook series for Japanese language courses. Instructors may also teach content courses related to Japanese culture.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent. Ideal candidates will have native or near-native fluency in Japanese and good command of English, demonstrated excellence and strong commitment to undergraduate teaching of all levels of Japanese as a Foreign Language as well as a variety of topics within language courses and culture seminars. Candidates with a Ph.D. are also encouraged to apply.

Compensation at a Glance:
Salary Range: $54,000 - $58,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
