Based in Missoula, Montana, with a satellite office in Butte, Montana, we represent clients throughout Idaho, Montana, and Washington. We practice mainly in the areas of business law, tax law, real estate law, corporate, partnership and limited liability company law, probate, and trust administrationand estate planning. We use a team driven approach, generally with one partner, one associate, and one staff member assigned to each matter. You will be mentored by several attorneys and paralegals with decades of experience practicing. We do this by allowing you to participate in calls, meetings, brainstorming sessions and client contact right along with the supervising attorney, and then providing support as you take the lead on certain aspects of the transaction or plan. To ensure we are providing the high-quality work that has become an expectation of our clients and colleagues, while you will not be micromanaged on how you handle those aspects, all work is reviewed by a partner or senior associate prior to being used or going out to clients or third parties on their behalf. To maximize employee growth and learning opportunities, you will then be directed to make the appropriate revisions or change of direction after consulting with the reviewing partner or senior associate.

This is a significant and wonderful opportunity for someone with an interest in becoming a transactional, business, or estate planning attorney. We often work with or against national and regional firms, where you will gain exposure to ideas, concepts, deal structures, and documents used in cutting edge legal markets across the country and will have a chance to routinely participate and handle estates and transactions exceeding several million dollars.

About the role

This is anticipated to be a full-time position. In-person work is initially required, given the method of mentorship required. However, some remote work is possible.

Knowledge, SKills, and ABILITIES required

• 0-2 years’ experience. No experience in specific practice areas is required
• Interested in doing high-end commercial, business, real estate and estate planning work. While we do not intentionally try to work late or weekends, that is sometimes required. Client needs and transactional deadlines often dictate when this is required, and it would not be realistic to say that this job or its responsibilities shut off at 5:00 or when you are out of the office
• Our team members have frequent contact with clients and other industry professionals and must possess excellent communication skills
• The ability to take initiative, stay organized, manage your own time effectively, and complete various tasks without micromanagement
• Desire to work as part of a team and build relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals
• Motivation to learn new areas of law

EMPLOYMENT PACKAGE

• Competitive compensation based on experience; base pay up to $64,000 annually, with bonuses and other incentives that can materially exceed this number
• The chance to increase pay rapidly over time for the right person
• Participation in employer-sponsored health plan available the first of the month following 60 days of employment
• Paid maternity leave
• Annual employer contribution toward Continuing Legal Education requirements
