Career Services:
Career Services (CS) provides comprehensive career services and programs to assist a diverse student population in developing, evaluating, and effectively initiating and implementing career, education, and employment decisions and plans through collaborative internal partnerships with UCF administrators, faculty, and staff, as well as effective external partnerships with key employers.
The Opportunity:
This position acts as the Associate Director for Career Development and is part of the Career Services Director’s management team working to provide leadership in the establishment of policies and procedures to effectively deliver career and employer services. The incumbent represents the center at meetings and provides input and information to the university related to career and employment issues for UCF students and alumni.
Responsibilities:
The Associate Director for Career Development provides leadership for developing strategies for and implementing career-related programs and delivery systems designed to enhance career development and career competencies for UCF students. Responsibilities include:
  • Managing a team of Assistant Directors, Coordinators, Graduate Students, Student Assistants and OPS employees involved in providing direct services to students and alumni.
  • Overseeing career development programs to include the career information resources and systems, career education programs, employment search preparation programs, and career counseling and assessment programs.
  • Selecting and utilizing technology systems to deliver career services.
  • Producing instructional materials for students.
  • Promoting the services and facilities of Career Services among the faculty and students of the university.
  • Emphasizing the need for total career planning on the part of the students and collaborates with academic administrators to identify, define and meet student career planning and employment needs, goals and objectives.
  • Assisting in development and management of Career Services budget particularly as it pertains to career development and outreach activities and career events.
  • Serving on university committees and task forces as required.
  • Representing the university at state, regional, and national professional career services-related associations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's and 6+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 4+ years of relevant experience with at least 2+ year(s) of leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or higher
  • Expertise in career counseling philosophies, career exploration, programming, and career development best practices.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Leadership, management, and supervision experience.
  • Strategic planning, program development, assessment, and process improvement experience.
  • Understanding of career services standards and best practices
  • Understanding of career development platforms and resources
  • Ability to effectively managing staff, resources, programs, and projects
  • Ability to develop and reconcile budgets, and perform financial transactions
  • Ability to present to large or small audiences and communicate effectively one on one
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
