Job Summary:
Advanced Technology Program at Raytheon Missiles & Defense is seeking a multi-disciplinary Engineering Project Leader that is responsible for the strategy and development of a portfolio of new and advanced wideband hybrid electronic-photonics sensors and RF signal processing capabilities in support of research and development programs.
In this role, you will provide technical direction and expertise during new program capture through execution, as well as working across the Raytheon enterprise to support further maturation and transition into operational programs. Additionally, you will identify strategic product development opportunities, and proposing and coordinating Independent Research and Development (IRAD) projects across programs and product lines. They work closely with engineers across technical disciplines, and are highly visible, influential, and accountable within the Raytheon Missiles and Defense programs and leadership community.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Lead architectural design of emerging wideband electronic-photonic signal processing solutions (e.g. photonically-enabled channelization, true-time delay lines, etc.).
- Lead selection of COTs/custom apertures, RF electronics, mixed-signal electronics, photonics (discrete and silicon photonics), and embedded/digital signal processing solutions for wideband electronic and hybrid electronic-photonic development programs.
- Lead trade studies on various sensing systems and sub-systems related to wideband RF and hybrid electronic-photonic sensors.
- Lead/support hybrid electronic-photonic modeling and simulation activities.
- Lead hybrid electronic-photonic sensing requirements development and requirement flow to its components.
- Drive the development and implementation of new/novel hybrid electronic-photonic capabilities in close collaboration with other disciplines to provide collaboration and transition opportunities.
- Support development and implementation of digital signal processing methodologies and algorithms in conjunction with electronics/hybrid systems.
- Identify strategic and emerging hybrid electronic-photonic sensing development opportunities.
- Perform regular customer interactions to develop opportunities, white papers and proposals.
- Lead technical White Papers and Proposal volumes by delivering customer-focused content in a way that technical and non-technical reviewers will score highly.
- Interact with customers, sponsors and partners at all organizational levels to maximize probability of successful pursuit and execution of contract R&D.
- Propose and lead independent research and development (IRAD) projects for the advancement of hybrid electronic-photonics sensors and systems.
- Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across multiple Raytheon and subcontractor organizations.
- Ensure balance of risk, performance, and cost.
- Communicate and collaborate with Program Management and Technical Leadership, Engineering Leadership, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Customers.
- Guide, apprentice, mentor, and train employees within the RF, mixed-signal, DSP, embedded systems, and photonic technical domains.
- Responsible for providing guidance, coaching / mentoring and training to other employees across the business within area of expertise.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
- Experience in high-performance RF system design and high-performance mixed-signal systems
- Experience in requirements definition phase of lifecycle
- Experience with state-of-the-art discrete and integrated photonic technologies (modulators, filters, detectors) for RF-over-fiber and digital applications
- Experience with high-speed DSP-based and FPGA-based signal processing using Xilinx, Intel, AMD, and / or Nvidia products
- Experience leading trade studies and / or engineering program efforts
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Matlab or similar enterprise business and engineering tools
- Expert knowledge in mixed-signal and hybrid (electronic-photonic)
- Experience leading and developing cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated excellence in interacting with customers and decision makers
- Excellent communication ability in verbal, written and presentation formats
- Demonstrated ability to influence others to achieve technical and programmatic goals
- Excellent proactive problem-solving experience
- Strong business strategic vision and the ability to develop and execute changes
- Team thinker, player and builder
- Prior active participation in a mentorship or coaching program involving several junior or mid-level engineers
- Knowledge of DoD/Intelligence Community operational concepts
- Experience working with the DoD and Intelligence Community Science and Technology organizations/agencies
- Advanced degrees such as MS or PhD in Physics, Optics, Photonics, Circuits, Signal Processing, or other related engineering field
- Existing, or the ability to obtain, a TS/SCI Security Clearance
