The successful Alpha Academics Team member is excited to receive coaching and feedback, understanding that their growth as an educator is an ever-evolving process, and that anyone interacting with our students is an educator regardless of specific responsibilities We seek educators who are committed to amplifying and celebrating the diverse experiences and cultures of our scholars and their families; educators who are excited to be a member of a vibrant school network; and educators who provide strong coaching and support to school leaders, teachers, and staff.

The Associate Director of STEM Programs is expected to:

  • Design curriculum, new course offerings, scope and sequences across Alpha's K-12 network of schools
  • Research and support TK-12 teachers, instructional coaches, and school administrators in implementing scientifically-backed instructional techniques for mathematics, science, and technology instruction and improving overall student achievement.
  • Develop and facilitate professional development to Alpha staff that supports Alpha's STEM model
  • Audit and update a STEM playbook for each course across Alpha's TK-12 network of schools
  • Develop rigorous, standards-aligned STEM benchmark assessment tools for all K-12 schools across all grade levels and courses
  • Coach Assistant Principals in their instructional coaching practices and support with leadership development

You Possess…

  • A Bachelor's degree
  • K-12 teaching experience (required)
  • Minimum of three years of coaching experience in a school setting
  • Successful experience with curriculum design, backwards planning from state assessments, data analysis, and delivery of professional development
  • A commitment to working with students in traditionally underserved communities. Approximately 80% of Alpha's students are from under-resourced communities and will be the first in their families to go to college. The majority of our students are Latinx and/or Vietnamese.
  • Subject matter expertise in math and/or science strongly preferred
