Project/Unit Description
GTRI is searching for an Associate Division Chief to lead the Assessment team, within the Embedded System Vulnerability Division (ESVD) in the Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research (CIPHER) Lab. The Assessments team is an establish team of experts in the reverse engineering and characterization of battlefield electronic systems.
Job Purpose
Lead multiple sponsored research projects. Assist Division Chief with operations including overhead budget management, hiring, AIS support and facilities management.
Key Responsibilities
- Static and dynamic analysis of software/firmware components of communication systems
- Development of software analysis tools to assist in the reverse engineering process
- Research communication theory concepts (such as modulation, spread spectrum, error correction coding, synchronization, etc.) and implementation methods to help in determining software functionality
- Development and use of virtual and emulation environments for executing software under test
- Primary author of technical reports/presentations for projects of high complexity. Compile report input from other researchers and prepare final report deliverable.
Additional Responsibilities
- Establish, maintain and evolve the strategic vision and execution plan for assessments work to enhance sponsored project portfolios and technical capabilities.
- Oversee, author, and contribute to proposals and white papers for sustained branch growth.
- Oversee and manage budgets, resources, and compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Manage and delegate responsibility for sponsored research to ensure execution of successful research programs based on sponsor requirements.
- Support operations and coordination across other teams within the division and other laboratories of GTRI.
Required Minimum Qualifications
5+ years managing Assessments projects
TS/SCI clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
Travel Requirements
10% - 25% travel
Education and Length of Experience
This position vacancy is an open-rank announcement. The final job offer will be dependent on candidate qualifications in alignment with Research Faculty Extension Professional ranks as outlined in section 3.2.1 of the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook
- 14 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, computer engineering or similar field
- 12 years of related experience with a Masters’ degree in Electrical engineering, computer engineering or similar field
- 9 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Electrical engineering, computer engineering or similar field
U.S. Citizenship Requirements
Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
Clearance Type Required
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
